porting nears the end

porting all of the plone content is almost/essentially done. now its mainly making everything look inviting. i sure hope this generates more add-ons and inlists from the MESA community.

"magnetic massive stars as progenitors of heavy stellar-mass black holes" by petit et al. 2017 is my favorite MESA read these days, despite being published in alternative journal ;) LIGO detected gravitational waves from the merger of two black holes with mass of 36 M⊙ and 29M⊙ at redshift z = 0.09.

initial modelling of the formation of black holes with such large masses suggested  that heavy black holes form from massive star progenitors in low-metallicity (Z <∼0.25 − 0.5 Z⊙) in order to keep the mass loss from winds relatively low. what is nifty about this article is it shows one can exchange surface magnetic fields for metallicity. In other words, the progenitors could have been lower mass magnetic massive stars in a solar-metallicity environment. nice!
